Rosa Luxemburg (also spelled Rosalia Luxemburg) was a Marxist philosopher, economist, and revolutionary socialist. She was born in Poland in 1871 and later became a German citizen. Luxemburg was an active participant in socialist and communist movements, advocating for the working class and women's rights. She was a key figure in the formation of the German Communist Party and was a founder of the Spartacus League, which eventually became the Communist Party of Germany. Luxemburg was also a prolific writer, producing several influential works on socialism, including "Reform or Revolution" and "The Accumulation of Capital." She was arrested multiple times for her political activities, and was eventually executed in 1919 by right-wing German paramilitaries known as the Freikorps. Luxemburg's ideas and writings continue to have an impact on Marxist thought and socialist movements today.
